| ABOUT |
| Laura graduated from Ithaca College in 1998 from the Park School of Communications with a BA in Film and Photography. Inspired to focus on photography she moved to New York shortly after graduating where she would later meet Graeme Boyle on set in 2003 ultimately leading to the formation of Boyle+Gardner. Working as one half of studio still life team taught Laura the fine art of creative collaboration. With a strong editorial presence which has evolved into Laura Gardner Photo, Laura continues to explore exciting new ways to use strong studio lighting technique to play up color, texture, and shapes for a bold and clean aesthetic which defines her style. Q and A Who are your favorite photographers and why? I have so many! I'll just give you a handful. My first love Emmet Gowin, Henri Cartier-Bresson for his 6th sense composition, Gary Winogrand for his unfiltered eye on society, Slim Aarons for the opposite reason, Karl Lagerfeld because he's a genius at everything, Gertrude Keisbier for her mastery of drama and beauty. What is the best exhibit you have ever seen? Bill Viola A 25-Year Survey hands down. Favorite New York moments? Driving over the Manhattan bridge while listening to the classic rock station. The view is amazing and the music always seems to fit the moment. Best place you've ever visited? Florence, Italy. What inspires you visually? Light, texture, and shapes. What do you like to do in your down time? Purchase way too many plants for my tiny garden, connect with old friends preferably over old wine, body surf, make something from scratch, attempt The Tmes crossward (I'll get you Will Shortz!), and watch movies.. I'm definitely a film buff. |
